My jeans are too big so I went and tried on jeans at Nordstrom rack. I need some to wear now, but don’t want to spend too much as still losing weight.

Most jeans there were skinny jeans. I carry all my weight in my thighs, have muscular calves and a small waist. While the size 26 fitted, I didn’t like how stretched they were over my thighs, emphasizing the out of proportion shape to my legs - lots of stretch in the jeans. Size 27 is too big on my waist and I get plumbers crack.

Wondering if I should stay away from skinny style until I’ve lost more weight, and look for straight or bootcut style? Or maybe the skinnies will stretch out a bit?

I am going to order a Kut from the Kluth boyfriend style online. Size 4 fits but reviews say they stretch out, so I’ll order the 2 online and compare to the 4s.

Any Jean advice?

I'm 4'11" and about a size 2, I wear a skinny boot cut style from American eagle, so it's a boot cut but not that wide. I don't have big hips or large calves but just find bootcut look better. I see most people wearing skinny jeans, but I don't think they flatter a lot of people to be honest. I know the age trendy and have been but I just don't love them. Straight leg are also an option. I love how American eagle fit, no worries of looking like mom jeans at all.

I wouldn’t go with skinnies. They don’t sound like they’re ideal for your body type (they probably are and look better than you think but I know we all have our hang ups even if the rest of us don’t agree :) ...a size 2-4 person just can’t have that huge of thighs ;) ). Boyfriends can be ok but they always look kind of sloppy on my but I’m short. I’d just go with the ones you feel best in- straight, boot, boyfriend.

I’m more a 6-8 right now. I have a small waist, which is why size 26 fitted best in waist but there’s enough stretch in the jeans to get over my hips/thighs. I think some may have been more like jeggings - super comfortable, but only ok with a tunic.

I’m out of proportion- at my heaviest, I looked like I was wearing jodhpurs, but it was all me. I am slimming down in thighs as I work out, so hoping to get more proportional and make Jean shopping easier.

How do you tuck into boots when it’s straight or bootcut? Just fold them around your leg?

I saw same styles have a relaxed skinny Eg kut from the Kluth, so I may look for those too.

Boot cut- under the jeans and only booties.
Straight- cuffed w booties or avoid boots/ booties all together and wear flats, sneakers, slip ons, loafers...

:)
Yeah, but they look funky with a bulky pant or jean. Maybe jeggings or skinnies are a good option after all.

Then you need skinny jeans. I love American Eagle jeans too. I do not rec kut. Wit and Wisdom or Blank nyc are other good choices.

I could wear with longer top to cover my butt or a cardigan when it gets cooler. I have saddle bags that stick out so something longer covers those and I look more straight through hips.

I read on a fashion blog, that straight jeans and boot cut are good style for pear shape. I’ll look for those.

I read about Wit and Wisdom on some fashion blogs. The Rack had Blank NYC, but I didn’t try them on. I’ll try those and American Eagle too.

It’s 88 degrees tomorrow so I’ve got time to find some jeans.

I am smaller in the waist with larger hips/thighs (though still a size 2/4) and do not feel comfortable in skinny jeans. I do not think they are flattering on most people unless they are worn more like leggings with a tunic. I used to always wear boot cut, but as a cheap, temporary, while I was loosing the last bit of baby weight solution, I bought a pair of "curvy straight" jeans from old navy and I actually really like them!

Thanks, I’ll try old navy. I agree with being careful how to style skinny jeans. I’ll wear a tunic style top when try done on. I do want to keep wearing my knee high boots on occasion.

I really like these jeans from Athleta:
https://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1108900&pcid=1108900&vid=1&pid=338322002

They have a good bit of stretch, but not so much that they wind up falling down halfway through the day. They are skinny-ish. Not super tight, but I think they'd still be OK with boots. They are pricey, but might still fit as you lose weight b/c of the stretch. I saw a 20% coupon when I went to the site just now + Ebates has 6% off.

Also, someone on here (Latia, I think) recommened Lee skinny jeans from amazon. I have a pair, and they're pretty good, too, and inexpensive,

It's the Levi's 710 Super Skinny jeans that I like and wear every day.

Hmm. I just don't see anyone stylish with boot cut around here. What about a boyfriend type jean? Go baggy and cropped and stone washed? I feel like my really fashion forward friends wear those. The rest of us wear skinny and honestly although I was a huge fan of boot cut in the day (and even dare I say flare?) I am totally converted to wearing skinnies now. They make me feel younger looking for sure and in a nice dark color I feel like they are slimming and they go with everything. I definitely don't think they need to be only with tunics and sweaters! They take some getting used to. My younger sister immediately told me I looked great in skinnies and I DEFINITELY did not think I did. But I've come around. A fashionable cut makes a huge difference in my opinion.

Have you tried on any of the Wit and Wisdom absolution pants? They have a hidden inner elastic that helps prevent gapping at the waist and should be a little flexible through weight changes. I have a pair of skinnies but am considering the bootcut too.

More about them on one of my favorite blogs: https://www.puttingmetogether.com/5-crazy-comfy-jeans-and-pants/

I have 2 pairs of the WW jeans and really like them. I think I bought the boot cuts during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but returned them because they had too much flare for me/ too much fabric. Could have been a KUT pair...I bought a lot of jeans. ;)

I really like Kut, but I do have to say I have long legs. The length is nice. You should be able to find "slim straight" or such vs just plain skinny. I don't like true skinny jeans, but slim or straight work for me. They also tuck into my boots easily. As for bootcut, look for mini-boot cut. For boots that aren't meant to have jeans tucked in (like calf boots vs knee high) I need a little flair for them to fit over the boot. But I don't wear boot cuts unless I'm actually wearing boots.

Straight from Kut is a nice fit, and will tuck into your boots:

I'm not built like you are (I'm tall with long thinish legs, but carry extra weight in my hips/belly), so take this fwiw anyway...

I buy skinny jeans for tall boots and long shirts. I style them like I will leggings, but I'm not AS concerned with covering my butt completely as I am with leggings...but still long tops that mostly cover. I do also wear them with flats in our current weather.

I have a tough time finding straight leg jeans to fit me because they tend to be too baggy in the legs (maybe when I lose the rest of my weight and my belly is smaller...)

I buy boot cut jeans for shorter tops and I personally prefer a "baby" boot cut. Just enough flare for me, but I am definitely trying to emphasize my legs when I dress.
