View Full Version : P&PTs for My Sister & Her Coworkers, Please

My sister works in a health care facility as a dayroom aide/teacher in their pediatrics unit.

The facility has been in the news, both local and national, over the past 24 hours for an adenovirus outbreak among the medically fragile children she cares for. Several of the children have died and the governor gave a press conference about an hour ago.

Please, send prayers, positive thoughts, and all your love & care to her and her coworkers. The staff are devastated.

P&PTs for all — in situations like this, the focus is sometimes on the children and parents (as it should be) without also realizing how much all the staff are affected too. Caring for such medically fragile kids is a challenge under the best of circumstances. Thanks for all they do, and hope that they are getting support in this devastating situation.

Thank you everyone. I have links to news stories and press releases, but I would prefer not to post them. You can Google them if you're interested. Most of the coverage is inane, but that's how local press is.

Currently, none of the non-nursing staff are permitted into the classrooms or anywhere near the children in the hopes that this will help reduce the spread of the virus.

The nurses are grief-stricken as well - they are caring directly for the children, both well and ill - and they have not received any offers for counseling services or other emotional support.

And then there's the CNA staff, about whom my sister has some Very Choice Words, but I would rather not repeat it.

The State Department of Health has an investigator on site, and a cleaning crew has been in to disinfect the dayroom and other public areas, with no ETA for non-medical staff to return to work.

Continue to pray for the staff, please.
