We have had "this old house" under construction for over six months. There are still many details left for them to finish, but we are nearing the point of needing dish cloths, dish towels, and bathroom towels. Woohoo!

Kitchen is more urgent, as my other ones are thin and are getting HOLES. after so much use. I know the Williams Sonoma towels were highly rated, but they now have only 3 of 5 stars, with customers citing reduced quality in recent batches. Hmmm.

I welcome your input. Thanks so much!

Just go to Costco. Don't overthink it. :)

I love my Williams Sonoma kitchen towels. If you aren’t picky about colors they put seasonal colors on clearance regularly. If not just wait for the occasional 15% off coupon. Right now it is burgundy, $11.99 for 4, online only: https://www.williams-sonoma.com/m/products/williams-sonoma-classic-stripe-towels-burgundy/?pkey=e%7Cstripe%2Bkitchen%2Btowel%7C15%7Cbest%7C0 %7C1%7C24%7C%7C11&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH

For bath towels I am equally happy with the Charisma towels from Costco and the Royal Velvet from JC Penney.

The Charisma towels are nice and thick if that is what you want. I have the grey and they haven’t lost color in the 8 months I have had them. https://www.costco.com/Charisma-Soft-100%25-Hygro-Cotton-2-piece-Bath-Towel-Set.product.100400043.html (I bought mine at the store and the only had white, grey, beige, and blue).

The Royal Velvet Egyptian Cotton towels aren’t as thick, but they are still a very nice towel. We have had these for about 18 months in the medium blue and we like them a lot. Sometimes I almost prefer these to the Charisma ones, but I don’t think you can go wrong with either towel.

Williams Sonoma has a great return policy so I would just take mine back if I had issues with them.

Costco for towels! Reasonably priced. Plus, towels are items that you don't keep forever. Eventually you replace them anyways.

I have dishcloths from Target that are going on 10+ years. They are striped on one side with netting on the other side. I’m just noticing some are getting threadbare and need to be replaced. I have mixed dish towels. Mostly random towels my mom found at Marshall’s, Ross and Tuesday Morning that match our kitchen. They all work fine and I don’t have a favorite. Bath towels I buy at Costco. I love their towels! You might want to wait to replace your linens when the construction is complete so your new linens don’t get ruined.

Thank you! We a huge Costco fans, but I have been to busy with work to browse the houseware aisles. I should check there. Target is even closer, though I haven't been there in over a month. I'll keep looking and yes, jgenie - you are correct! We should wait for the final sawdust to fall before investing. That will be a treat!

Just go to Costco. Don't overthink it. :)

My Costco kitchen towels are the best I've ever had. I just got 4 Costco towels to replace some old ones and am definite getting more the next time they are on sale. I personally think the wash cloths are too thick but its just a personal preference I use the cheep o's from Walmart I like super thin wash cloths

I learned about the Frontgate Resort Towels here years ago. They are slightly more than the Costco ones - but way nicer and a zillion colors. Watch for sales but not terrible even without them.

I love Land's End Bath Towels. https://www.landsend.com/products/supima-bath-towels/id_225485

For kitchen towels, i have a mix of Williams Sonoma and Sur La Table. They are really great! I also have a couple sets of the super thin all cotton kitchen towels from Ikea, and those are the ones i use to blot lettuce, veggies.

I have WS kitchen towels. I rarely use them. We are terrible people who use too many paper towels.

We currently have these towels and I like them.
