One of the things DIL suggested that DGD2 would like for Christmas is Turing Tumble. Looks interesting, but I wanted to see if any BBB'ers were familiar with it.

We got it from the original crowd funding campaign. My DD and I love it.

How old is your DD?

What ages seem to enjoy this? It looks really interesting, but is expensive if it just sits there. I'm thinking about it for my 10 year old.

We received this game through a raffle drawing at a musical. We haven’t had a chance to use it yet, and I was actually considering regifting it, until my DS opened it. It’s not a game I had even heard of, although it looks like it gets good reviews.

My DD is 10.5, in 5th grade. She’s very good at math and academically strong for reference.

It’s not a game you play against someone. It’s more like a Think Fun puzzle toy. There’s a book with a story and a series of puzzles. The story and puzzles build in complexity as they introduce new parts and concepts.

Here’s an example puzzle. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181123/b7bab94ec15aad3cb37e358f459dcf9e.jpg

There is something really satisfying hearing it click and clack and watching the balls fall through the various pieces.

I don’t think I would get it for anyone much younger than my DD unless an adult is also interested.

Hope that’s not the first puzzle! I can see working up to that (at least for me). My DIL has a good handle on DGD2's strengths and weaknesses (she is very bright but has various learning disabilities), and she’s the one who encouraged me to get this. I think this would be a joint mom/kid project.

Thanks. I think we will get it. DS2 is 10 and very good at math as well. He likes programming, so hopefully the logic is good for him.

Saw this good, quick review of the Turing Tumble.

Thanks! I ordered this the other day. Sometime after Christmas, I’ll be able to report my family’s reaction.
