View Full Version : Fireplace in use with damper closed - risk?

There was a bit of a misunderstanding in our home earlier, and we had a fire in the fireplace with the damper/flue mostly closed for about an hour. Smoke did seem to fill the house a bit, not to point that it triggered the smoke detectors (more like a campfire feel). We opened some windows and doors for a couple of hours and it seems much better now (this was almost three hours ago)

Now that DD is going to bed, I’m getting panicked that there’s a risk from carbon monoxide, etc. We have carbon monoxide detectors throughout the house, but I’m still concerned. Is this a realistic fear? Anything I should be doing now? Googling is only getting me pages that say to open the damper e dry time you use the fireplace, so that’s not helpful to me now!

Thanks!
