I've just realized two of our three lunchbox Thermoses are dented (no doubt because DS throws his lunchbox around all the time!), and therefore, don't work anymore. I looked online for reviews, and found this (http://https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-food-thermos/), which says none of the brands they tested actually kept food hot for longer than 2 hours! The LLBean one (http://https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/79576?page=stainless-steel-vacuum-food-container-14-oz&bc=50-514247&feat=514247-GN1&csp=f&attrValue_0=Stainless/Black) gets good reviews, but also costs $30.

Anyone have one to recommend?

I use the Thermos brand for DS and think it works better than the ones we used to have from Pottery Barn Kids.

I fill the food jar with hot (really hot but not boiling) water, then leave it while I prep lunch. I put really hot pasta into the preheated food jar, and DS says that it is still hot at lunch (4-5 hours later).

I bought my original one on Amazon but last summer bought two new ones at Target. Good luck!

OK, thanks. The two we have (that are dented) are Thermos brand also, but maybe a bit small for our kids now that they are older. I did see a bigger Thermos one for $20 on Amazon, though. I think our Thermos brand ones used to stay hot till lunchtime...will have to ask the kids.

We have a previous version of https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Modern-16oz-Provision-Handle/dp/B07BN6C78S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543431522&sr=8-3&keywords=simple+modern+food+jar When I was looking for something bigger than the thermos ones we had were too small (also characters were not cool in our house any longer). I have washed them in the top of the dishwasher and they have held up great so far. We have had them since last spring.

Thanks! That one looks great, and I hadn't seen it yet.

I have a simple one from IKEA that was very inexpensive and also keeps food hot -- my daughter tells me her food is still always hot at lunch. Like a PP said, I do the prep with hot water thing first which definitely helps keep it hot longer.

We use the large size lunch bots. I like how they can fit quesadillas and small sized bagels. I would love a sandwich sized thermos!!
