Rather than our prior advent calendars with 24 openings, this year I bought one of the "12 Days" of Christmas Advent Calendars with things I know they will like.

While I know technically the 12 Days of Christmas are after Christmas (12/25 to 1/5), I just think after Christmas my kids are still on a high from Christmas. With that said I am thinking of having them start to open them on 12/13 through 12/24.

If you use a 12 day advent calendar when do you start opening yours?

i haven't had a 12 day-advent calendar, but technically, the "12 Days of Christmas" refers to the days that start with the Birth of Jesus and end with the arrival of the Magi on Epiphany. Maybe you should start on Christmas Day.

This is what I would do, too. There are always 4 Sundays in Advent before Christmas Day. The number of days in Advent is different each year depending on which day of the week Christmas falls. This year Advent happens to start on December 2nd. It’s always at least 22 days long, though, since there have to be 4 Sundays, though Advent 4 can also be Christmas Eve. It was last year. The point, though, is that no Advent calendar would only be 12 days. Many Advent calendars are lazy and include 30 days, even though the longest number of days Advent could be would be 28, and that would only happen if Christmas Day fell on a Sunday, which happens only every seven years. What you have must be a Christmas calendar for the 12 days of Christmas, December 25th through January 6th. Those dates are the same every year.
