I just did some xmas shopping at the makeup counters at Nordstrom. I came home and realized that none of the lipsticks/lipgloss packaging (or the tubes inside) are sealed with a sticker or anything. (Brands are Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, etc.) Is this a new thing, or should I return and only find ones that are sealed?

I think only drugstore brands are sealed. Make up at department stores is stored such that people don’t have access to unopened tubes and containers. Are
You worried about contamination? From what?

No. They are usually in boxes but not sealed. I agree that only the drugstore/big box brands come sealed.

Nope. None of the Clinique lipsticks I buy (at dept stores). The only slight variation is when lip gloss or lipstick is included in the gift-with-purchase — all those items are typically sealed in a plastic bag.
