It is that time of year again when I get confused by tipping/gift giving for service providers.

Does anyone know the maximum you can gift to a postal delivery person (USPS)? We run a business that uses the USPS so we want to give him a coffee card with the maximum...

Thanks......

$20/occasion $50 per year total but look at the link - cant be cash or anything that could be converted to cash.

So if you can’t give cash/cash equivalents, what do people actually give their postal carriers?

Last year I put out a basket on my porch with bottled water and snacks for all the delivery people.

I was thinking a coffee shop gift card, is that appropriate?

Depending on how you read the USPS link that doberbrat posted, the gift card sounds like it might violate the rules. However, I suspect that many people ignore the rules.

I've given Amazon gift cards in the past since our mail carrier delivers my 100s of Amazon packages each year!

Every year I get my mail lady, Judy, a box of holiday candy from Target. I think I usually buy a $10-15 gift on her and another on the trash guys. This year I got the salted nut trio in a metal tin.

I've never tipped a postal worker. Ours seems to change every year. The one we have now is pretty incompetent. There's been a string of threads on our local FB page about the amount of mis-delivered mail. Also, our workers always leave notices about the food drive, I've left food in bags by my mailbox, and they NEVER pick it up. Our postal workers are lame.
