View Full Version : $40 budget... anything your 10 year old (hockey player) son would like for Christmas?

I know nothing about hockey... I have a couple of ideas from his mom (not hockey-related), but they're not super exciting.
Or anything your 10 year old son in general would like? He also likes soccer, but hockey is the main one (especially this time of year).

Thanks for your help!

www.stickbandits.com has a lot of cool personalization stuff but not sur it will be done in time for Christmas. DS has the stick labels and the water bottle labels.

Cool hockey tape, knee hockey stuff, they always need an extra water bottle, cool beanie hat to wear to games, a garment bag for his jerseys, gift certificate to stick and puck time or gift certificate for skate sharpening. Stick handeling ball.

Playmobil has a TON of hockey sets that DS(11) loves.

Spot It! Hockey editon.

I’ll post more if I think of any.

Do you know his fav professional team? Or player? Nhl.com has a lot of stocking caps, t-shirts, slippers. Mini sticks are always a hit, as is a mini stick set (mini nets), they play it on their knees on carpet. Also there are speed balls (yellow balls to play mini sticks). The green biscuit pucks linked above are great, but he needs to have a place to use it where he won't damage anything as they are hard.

There is a set of 6 balls also available. It's important to get a set with two nets.

I'll send links in a bit.

At that age my sons would love anything with favorite teams/players on it for sure. My 14 year old will only wear t shirts/hoodies now, no jerseys, hats, etc. for whatever reason.

My oldest collected these for a while and they are still in his room

My 2 younger boys both love this shirt

They give out medals instead of trophies for everything now, so they each have a medal holder

We have a training room in our basement and honestly, things are expensive for hockey, but stickhandling balls are relatively inexpensive

We probably have every possible version of shooting and stickhandling pucks and balls and they use all of them.

I just got the vineyard vines shirt when the had their sale, it's so soft, I ordered a second one for DD.

A knee hockey set would be my recommendation . You might be able to find one in the motif of his favorite nhl team.

Sounds familiar :). Thankfully no windows near our hockey net.

If there is an AHL (American Hockey League) team in your area AHL TV is running $54 special where you get the remainder of the season for all teams for that price or just one team for $40.
https://www.watchtheahl.com/#/

Some NHL teams have student nights where tickets are $40 or less for good seats and often include a hotdog and a drink. $40 will usually get you two AHL tickets . Our local AHL team is running a $54 promo where you get 4 tickets and a Chick-fil-A meal and the meal is better than what you get at the arena.

If he really loves hockey I would lean towards an experience especially if you have any kind of hockey team near you (college, CHL/OHL/WHL junior leagues, ECHL/AHL (minor), or NHL).
