Any tried and true favorite cargo/utility capris? FWIW, I'm 5'2". Would love a recommendation for an easy to care for, easy to wear, preferably with a comfortable, adjustable elastic waist.

Two contenders that I've tried so far are:

https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/120731?page=vista-camp-pants-cropped&bc=&feat=vista%20camp-SR0&csp=a&searchTerm=vista%20camp

I feel like the Calvin Klein performance ones aren't that well made though.

Thanks for any recs!

They’re not capris but I wear these. Not too hot for full days at Tx amusement parks and they dry quickly. I have similar pairs from Athleta but they’re discontinued I believe.

I got a pair of very light weight Marmot hiking pants at Costco for $25. They look like they will dry very quickly.

Following, I have been looking for this too! I have some from Athleta from several years ago that I love but they don’t have anymore. The LLBean ones look like a possibility.

If you're a Costco member, try there. No adjustable waist but good otherwise. And a heck of a lot cheaper than LLB or Athleta. :)

I checked out Costco.com and will see how these fit and feel--

Kohl's Sonoma brand cargos are my staple capri. This year they have a few options but all are very similar. So of the sizing is a bit wonky across the various colors.
These have full knit waist band and a drawstring.

ETA: oops. These were already mentioned above.

They're not cheap, but I love my North Face Capri pants that are basically the new versions of the Lucy pants (from when TNF bought Lucy):

Are the ones from Kohl's and Costco true to size? I usually wear a 2 or a 0, but the smallest these come in is a 4.

I have three pairs of the capri version of these, and they're my faves! They're held up for several summers and I find the pockets are great for outings/travel.

Most of the colors do come in a size 2...for some reason the size 2 is showing on the end after the size 18.

Maybe these from Eddie Bauer? I don't have them but I have some cargo type shorts and they're great.

ETA: They also seem to have a pull on version:

I have the Horizon shorts.

Just tried on The North Face Aphrodite 2.0 capri at REI. Very comfortable and lightweight. Definitely liking these too!

I have three pairs of these. I love the zippered pockets. They definitely run big.

IMO the olive color in the button fly from Kohls runs smaller than the red pair I bought.

Good to know. Which color would you say is true to size?

I bought the "mauve heirloom" in the button fly and they seem true to size.
In the knit waist- I bought the "calder blue" and "green camo". The blue seems true to size and the camo is more snug. But I still bought my regular size.

I went to Kohl's and tried the Tek Gear Zipper Pocket Capris, which I liked.

Unfortunately, the Sonoma Goods For Life Ultracomfort waist were too long on me. Rolled up, they were almost regular pants length. Other than that, nice and comfy.

I like The North Face Aphrodite Capri, and I'm waiting for the Eddie Bauer Horizon Capri (to be delivered tomorrow).

Great recommendations in this thread, thanks!

Did you try the petites on the Kohls capris?

I didn't get to try the petites, as they didn't have them in store. And I don't think they will come in time for our hot weather trip next week, if I order now. I just received the Eddie Bauer Horizon Capris, and I think those look nice, stylewise. I like the North Face Aphrodite for the comfort, but they are a tad longer than the Eddie Bauer Horizon. So for comfort, the North Face Aphrodite is excellent. With my short height, the Eddie Bauer looks better on, but is not as comfy as the North Face. I will prob end up keeping at least one of both brands.

Can I ask, if it's hot why you aren't wearing shorts, or a skort (I love my Athleta one's I've bought at tjmaxx, used or in ebay for cheap).

I have shorts already for the trip, which I plan to wear a lot. But I need some pieces that aren’t shorts for places where shorts aren’t appropriate and a little more coverage is needed.

Gotcha. I find being short it's hard to find capris that don't make me look dumpy, I usually end up with croppes or ankle length that hit at the narrowest part of my legs, and I like them to slim my legs, some seem to get "stuck" on my calves, which are muscular but not huge. I have one pair of Lululemons that are prefect, they were bought a few years ago at a consignment shop for 10.00 luckily. Where did they hit you at?

I know exactly what you mean! Being short, cropped pants and capris need to be a certain length to be flattering. Too short of an inseam, and I feel like my calves look weird and stumpy. Too long of an inseam, and it looks like weird flood pants. That sweet spot is hard to find, I think for me, it might be in the 19” range. I’m just not sure. And many item descriptions will say it’s a certain inseam, yet on one pant it will be longer than another at the supposed same inseam.

And to top it all off, I have a super low tolerance for heat. I get so sweaty faced, red faced and miserable in hot weather. What is probably bearable for normal people becomes too hot for me. I’m so pathetic in heat. :(

For the North Face Aphrodite and Eddie Bauer Horizon owners, what is your "real" method of laundering? Do you wash on cold or delicate and air dry? What's the best way to preserve these lighter weight capris? Some Aphrodite reviewers complained about pilling after little use. Hoping to avoid that.

Thanks!
