my son (9) who is on swim team has been complaining of irritated, itchy skin on his face, sort of near one eye. it looks red. i am wondering if it's from the chlorine (also where the seal of the goggles rub his eyes, i'm sure that doesn't help). he does 1 hour of swim practice Mon-Fri and this weekend we were at pools both days for several hours playing with friends. any tips or suggestions for minimizing this irritation? i admit i am not diligent at all about requesting he shower after the pool - would that help at all?

It could be from the chlorine or a mixture of the chlorine and rubber. My kids are sensitive to chlorine so I would make them rinse off then put lotion on after the pool. It definitely helped to keep their skin from getting dry and itchy. I told them to rinse front side for 20 seconds then hair and backside for 20 seconds. We would do it when we got home. Now thankfully both pools we use are saline so we don’t have chlorine issues anymore.

Rinse and apply Aquphor after swimming to see if the irritation will resolve.
