We're so late to the Nerf game! My oldest is 16 so this feels strange to do NOW, lol, but DH, DS1 and DS2 just recently had a blast at a big Nerf fight. I was thinking a fun family present would be to get some Nerf guns for all of us so we can engage in some battles together!

Does anyone have any ideas to inexpensively outfit ALL of us? There are 6 of us, ages 6 to adult. I don't think we need a separate package for each kid although that would sort of be awesome... My DH says he prefers the balls to the darts. There sure is a wide variety of price points for Nerf. I don't think we need motorized but I do think it would be great to know which ones are really fun/effective. Any ideas where we could find some awesome products inexpensively?

TIA!

I don't think you can go wrong with any type of Nerf gun. We have several of all different kinds. I'd get a bunch of inexpensive ones like these and a giant pack of darts.

ETA: we've only ever used the guns with darts, not balls.

At some point Costco had inexpensive nerf guns, I bought quite a few for the kids and birthday presents. We have only used the darts, and buy the knock off refills from Amazon.

I am guessing that nerf will be deal of the day at some point before Christmas on Amazon.

Buy eye protection, either safety glasses or googles.

Like pp, I would buy cheap ones and a giant pack of balls or darts. We have a ton of different guns and I swear the cheaper ones are some of the favorites. Mine definitely prefer darts to balls. We have 2 that use balls- Artemis- and they do not get played with because they are too heavy so make sure you get smaller ones. (Although us adults like them because they hold so much but part of the fun for kids is running into the "line of fire" to get more darts.) Read reviews and make sure the 6 year old has one she can work easily. Some are trickier for 6 and under because of thumb strength or how you have to pull back. The Elite triad and Elite disrupter are usually safe bets for little ones.

Any really, if you want to go bargain, I see whole artilleries of nerf guns listed on fb selling groups. Kids age out and parents are happy to get them out of the house!

We've only used darts. If the balls are the Rival line, DS2 wanted one of those last year and based on reviews, I skipped it. They are rated for 14+ generally and it says the balls can hurt if you're close when being shot. I didn't want that with his friend group, so we stuck with darts.

Definitely get safety glasses. My kids also like the vests that hold more ammo.

One that holds a fair number of whatever is nice because it's tedious to reload after just a few. Balls are nice BUT because they roll, you lose a lot more AND, if I remember right, refills cost more than darts.

I totally have these recommendations in my Amazon cart right now!

The safety goggle 12-packs on amazon would be a good choice. Nerf seems to come out when guests are around, so having plenty is helpful. There are smaller ones and larger ones.
