3D printer for home

Anyone have a 3D printer under $400 they would recommend? It’s for my 13 year old. I can’t find many reputable recent reviews. It looks like XYZ Printing and Monoprice brands are recommended but there are so many models for each. I’m looking for one that does not require any building or complicated set up.

How about instead a maker space membership? They are great because they have all the cool stuff and usually have training available.
Ours fits your price from Moniprice but set up requires some know how.

Thanks for idea but he has access to a lab at school with lots of 3D printers and he takes an engineering class in that space so he has the support but I know he would also enjoy tinkering at home.

I checked and the one above is what we have. No real complaints. It's a little loud when running, but it's in our kitchen so more noticeable. It does not get heavy use, but semi-regular use. We've had no issues with it as of yet. DS1's friend recommended it a couple years ago as that is what he has.

While it's listed as DIY, the set-up took less than an hour. It comes in a few pieces and they do need to be assembled. But, it was not difficult to do at all.
