DH has the opportunity to set his price for a raise proposal to send to corporate. Obviously he doesn’t want to go too high or too low. He is in upper management and the company is growing dramatically. What percent is appropriate?

That’s tough! Can he ask around tiger an idea of salary for his position. I know roughly what range I can get paid, so I’d base it off that

Glass Door has salary ranges at many companies. Have him do some research, taking into account any skills/ education he has vs others.

I'd also factor in whether his is entirely merit/performance based or if he has taken on new responsibilities or supervising more people. Is this on top of any other salary adjustment (like annual COL adjustment or contractual raise) or is this the only raise he receives? For example, if he gets an annual 3% raise for COL/consumer index and this would be in addition to that, or if he just received a year end bonus, my ask would be different than if he has been paid his current salary for some time with no COL adjustments or bonuses.

In most larger companies there are ranges based on title. For a raise without promotion it would be good to know the range for the job class he is in (if it exists). Alternatively a range from LinkedIn or glassdoor or salary.com is an ok place to check. I would also encourage him to ask outside the company in his network for range ideas. Finally I would expect something sub 20% raise as a general guideline. It is VERY rare to see a raise in pay grade unless he came in WAY under range. Good luck!!
