We are considering a move to Wilmington, NC. Is anyone here familiar with the area? A few questions:

Which beaches are the best in the area?

Which school districts are best? We have kids in elementary and middle school and one of my kids has an IEP.

Is Wilmington an area you would recommend in general?

There are 3 main beach areas - Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure. Wrightsville is closer to Wilmington proper, then Carolina, and Kure is the furthest.

Areas closet to Wrightsville and Carolina tend to be the most desirable. It's a good size town and good amenities. Decent size airport. However may need to drive to RDU or MB depending on where you are going.

Be aware of flood plains and understand what are may be prone. Hurricanes do impact the area but generally flooding is more of an issue than wind.
