So it was just going to be DS on spring break, which is now 2 weeks, and me working from home. DS has little bit of school work to do over Spring Break but it’s not full amount as if he was doing online learning. No big deal, DS and I have a rhythm. Now DH will be working from home, and a 3rd person just messes up a duo.

We’ll each have a separate room to be in. We’re going to move the office computer to DS’s room so DH can have the office as he’ll need to be on the phone. I have a laptop and I can work from our bedroom or the living room, so far I won’t have phone calls, but that could change if the district decides to do teletherapy.

Any advice from people who work from home?? How to not butt heads?

Create a schedule with wake times, breakfast, and start times for each person. Designate work zones and move supplies to those locations accordingly. Trial and error will be needed in the beginning to see if each space will work for each person, eg do you need a larger desk/table, more quiet, can you step outside to take longer/louder calls? Try to stick to the schedule for each person and to do lists—esp for DS. Flexibility will be needed especially the first couple of days. :)

Yes a schedule at least for phone calls works well. I’ve done calls in the bathroom

Thanks! DH has never worked from home, so we don’t know what it will be like. He said he’ll use headphones so we don’t hear the audio. He’ll have phone calls for sure, maybe even conference calls with clients.

We do have a specific signal that DH uses when he's on the phone, he sets a stuffed animal on his computer and a door hanger on his door.

Good idea. We’ll set up something.
