Fun thing my town is doing - add yours!

One of DS2's classmates had a birthday today. Some of her friends organized a birthday parade - cars drove by their house honking horns and yelling "happy birthday" out the windows. It really made the birthday girl's day! Now our local FB page is organizing birthday parades for any kids having one soon.

Just passing it on, as it seems like it's an easy fun thing to do to brighten everyone's spirits for a bit.

Our neighborhood has been putting up pictures in front windows for kids to spot on walks. We did shamrocks first and the next thing is rainbows. I saw some sidewalk chalk messages too - I think we'll do one out in front of our house tomorrow.

There was an awesome scavenger hunt on Wed. .... gave me 3 HOURS of silence in the house! I did some outside work and it was nice to see all the kids/families walking around.

There was a 'shamrock' spotting.

One parent organized a trivia game for k-2 & 3-5 kids. It was done on zoom. Pretty simple, no prizes or buzzers but the kids had fun.

In our area, they have not doing anything like this. One of my friends wants to organize a porch sing along, but is having a hard time picking a song. He wants it to be like what Italy is doing.

Otherwise, people are using zoom/webex for social happy/coffee hours. I belong to a book club that usually meets 2x a month, we had to cancel last night's book club, which was actually a reunion book club with some members who had moved to cities further away. So I may suggest we do a zoom meet up, but I'm not sure if everyone is going to want to do that or not.

A town somewhat near us opened their drive-in movie theater early - they don't usually open until June. They sold out and had to turn folks away last night.

That’s what my town is doing.
Also zoom virtual play dates for little ones cuz playgrounds in our parks are closed.

Our teachers are doing a driving parade around town so they can wave at students. All of the students that reside int he country are invited to park at the town parks so they can wave as well!

We started this today, too. Hearts in windows this week. It's cold, so not many people were out walking, but hopefully once it warms up people will enjoy it.
