Face recognition! I’m at work, dutifully wearing my mask and I keep having to unlock my phone with my code to text my boss.

I know it’s a small thing but I miss my thumb print option!!

Supposedly the next update will be able to recognize faces w/ masks! It may already be out. They’re on it!

Yes! I already preferred and missed thumb ID, but now with masks it’s way worse. My DH needed a new iPhone while ago and got an iPhone 8 just because he wanted thumb ID still. Now he’s even more glad he did.

I hated it from the start too. Apparently I often try to open my phone from too far away or the wrong angle, grrr. Bring back the thumbs!

I don't have strong feelings about facial recognition in general, but I'm impressed it recognizes me in the dark. The whole not recognizing me with a mask on is super annoying though. I had heard they're working on new software, and will be glad when it's available.

Me too...that is the only thing I miss from the prior models. I don’t have face recognition set on my phone. I just enter in my code everytime or leave my phone open and just deal with it draining the battery faster.

I bought my first new phone ever and bought the SE, which is a thumb. Well, I have been stripping and refinishing doors, lots of sandpaper and it no longer recognizes my thumb. Grrrr.

Hey, with the constant hand washing these days, my phone hardly ever recognizes my thumb!
