Apparently DH is being given an allowance from work to buy an office chair. He has an Aeron chair at work. We’ve got something at home already...but he’s wondering if there is something better—maybe akin to his work chair—that’s a bit more affordable? We don’t want to get something just to get something but a really comfortable chair would be awesome.

Thanks!!

I have an Aeron at work, and tried a number of chairs at home--all were too uncomfortable for sitting long periods of time. I even tried an "Aeron" looking knockoff from Costco. You'd think another company could easily copy the chair style since it's been around so long, but nope. That chair dug into the bottom of my thighs!. After suffering new back and neck pains from these other chairs, this past weekend, I went to a used office furniture store and bought an Aeron, which was $450 cash price. I bought 2, plus a Mirra. The seller gave me a bit more of break, so I paid about $425 for the Aeron. He put hardwood casters on there, gave me the posturefit model for size B and C, plus new lumbar backings for both chairs, as I really don't care for the posturefit. These are not the latest model "Aeron II" chairs currently in production, but not the super old ones either. So between 2012-2018. I did my fair amount of research for reputable Aeron resellers, and was keen on going to a brick and mortar seller. The items listed on Craigslist, FB, Nextdoor, all seemed a bit too risky for me. I also bought a used adjustable height desk--I was skeptical about how much I'd like it, but am hooked!

Can he go in and quickly get his chair? Nothing in that budget will be comparable.

No. Only if he loses his job. Not even kidding. His coworker has a chair he brought from home he can’t get either.

Yes to this. DH spends a comparable amount of time sitting and he has an office chair that was very pricey and written into a contract with previous employer that they paid for his chair. It’s his, so when he left that company, the chair went with him. Many of his colleagues have their own chair. DS and I use a different office chair as we don’t touch the settings in DH’s chair

See my post above! It’s crazy! What’s even worse, maybe because your DH is in the industry you’ll recognize the name of this but, nobody can get their Cintiqs. DH has one thankfully but some of his coworkers have had to scramble without them! They aren’t letting anyone into the floor unless they are let go.

Ok. I’ll share this post with DH.

There was a post on here in April about desk chairs. Based on that post I bought DH a Tempur-Pedic TP7000 Mesh Chair. So far so good, but I don't know what brand DH had at his office.

I have a slightly different chair (mine has a leather like back vs. the mesh), but this chair is great. I wouldn’t be able to work from home without it. https://www.madisonseating.com/zody-office-task-chair-by-haworth.html

Thank you for the recommendations. I'll take them to DH. I should add that he's got an extremely long torso. He is 6'4 but only wears 32 inch inseams in his pants! He's all neck and back. I think a comfortable chair will make a difference for him but it is so hard to find one remotely!

Thank you!

If anyone else is looking for a decent chair, DH ended up getting this one a few weeks ago. We took the receipt back today and got the great sales price of $229 https://www.staples.com/Temperpedic-TP-6400/product_2724237
