102. While at my parents. We had been there only an hour and just left immediately. 😫

He hasn’t been anywhere since last Thursday so I am praying it is just more of the ear infection from last week.

Yikes! What exposure did he have last week?

He played with two friends at the pool.

Fingers crossed for him! It's an anxiety provoking time, for sure.

Now I don’t know what to do. My doc is not seeing patients with fevers, sending them elsewhere for testing. I need someone to look in his ears, I honestly hate for him to do a Covid test if it’s probably just his ear. Should I go to urgent care? Will they check his ears before testing for Covid?

I am waiting for text back from doc.

Our pediatrician came to our car and checked ds2's ear through the open car window. Hoping yours can do that too!

Full PPE would be required though since he has a fever.

Is he complaining of ear pain? Any other symptoms? I’d take him to get tested unless he’s complaining of ear pain.

Was it a public pool?

He says his ear does not hurt, but we’ve had the same scenario with EIs in past. I wish my doc would do an ear check in the car but I don’t think they are doing that.

and yes it was a public pool.

Is there a chance testing can happen too early to be reliable? I am now cautious about that since we had one kid test + for flu in Jan and the next one tested - with all the same symptoms, just delayed...

I don’t know. Normally I would ride it out but since I know he had ear pain last week I’m concerned it should be looked at. I wish I had an ear thing. Otometer?

If it’s been more than 5 days past exposure and he has a fever, it is not too early for a covid test. I’d get him tested to rule it out.

I mean he has certainly not had a known exposure, just at the pool playing with two friends and it was definitely not crowded. I’m sure I would have heard if those friends were not well at this point.

Were there any staff at the pool? Anyone there before you guys that would have touched the same surfaces your son did?? Hopefully it is just an ear infection, but I’d get him covid tested to be sure.

Most urgent care centers here are doing covid testing and they could also look at his ear- I would try and find someone who could do both.

Sure on the PPE. But better than going to an ER if it does happen to be an EI.

I hope it's all ok, OP!

Given his history, chances are it will be an ear infection . Let us know!

Sounds like chances are good for ear infection - hope that's what it turns out to be!

So unlikely to be covid in a kiddo with no documented exposure. Good luck!! Keep us posted

Glad it is just an ear infection, but it feels wrong saying that as I know they are so painful! Hope your DS feels better soon!!

I feel somewhat ridiculous saying I’m so glad your son has an ear infection!

Great news!!! I'm assuming they did a Covid test anyways just because you were already in urgent care?

They didn’t. That urgent care isn’t even doing COVID tests which seems odd. They are sending people to a drive through I guess if they think they need it.
