We're looking for an illustrated, encyclopedic and recent book for the kids on dinosaurs. We have a few that we've gathered from various places but even the one from 2005 is very out of date!

Would love any recommendations!

TIA!

Depends on the age range.

For little kids, I'm still partial to NatGeo Little Kids My First Big Book of Dinosaurs (https://www.amazon.com/National-Geographic-Little-First-Dinosaurs/dp/1426308469/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=my+first+big+book+of+dinosaurs&qid=1619301548&s=books&sr=1-2).

For EVERYONE, The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs by Steve Brusatte (https://www.amazon.com/Rise-Fall-Dinosaurs-History-World-ebook/dp/B0727TN8H6/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=rise+and+fall+of+the+dinosaurs&qid=1619301598&s=books&sr=1-1) is excellent.

It may not be your cup of tea, but I'm also partial to Riley Black's Did You See That Dinosaur? (https://www.amazon.com/Did-You-See-that-Dinosaur/dp/1641527064/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=did+you+see+that+dinosaur&qid=1619301625&s=books&sr=1-1), which is a Where's Waldo?-style find-it book with facts. If you want to know paleo, Riley's writing style is extremely relatable and I don't think I know paleontologists who love sauropods as much as she does.

These all look good! It turns out DH took the initiative in order three books that already arrived! (He's more decisive at these things than I am, apparently!) We got these three and I'll give reviews when the kids get a chance to really experience them. For those asking, the kids are ages 7 to 17 and all of them are interested in dinosaurs together.

(This is one is dense enough that even my almost 14yo said its too wordy so heads up--but my 17yo loves it.)

This one:

And this one from one of DH's favorite illustrators (which DS3, age 9, is reading right now):

https://www.amazon.com/Dictionary-Dinosaurs-illustrated-dinosaur-discovered/dp/1786031280/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Dictionary+of+dinosaurs&qid=1619451665&s=books&sr=1-1

I'm going to check out some of the other titles listed in this thread from the library.
