Hi everyone. I am looking for more decodable readers for my kindergartener. I am homeschooling him.

We currently use the following:
-Flyleaf
-library books delivered to our home. Hard to find books that are not so difficult for him to read all by himself
-Bob books. He does not enjoy the stories, but he is proud of himself after reading the stories.

He loves me reading books to him. We do about 5 read alouds during the day. We read a few pages from a chapter book at night.

Please provide any suggestions. Thank you.

I’m sharing a sample of words that he can sound out phonetically and read.

My son liked these when he was first starting to read: https://www.amazon.com/Usborne-Very-First-Reading-Set/dp/B0043KENGK

Our local library had them -- I definitely wouldn't have paid that much for them! But they great for reading together. They have one set of words on each page for the parent to read, and another set of words for the child to read and you take turns reading your parts. The child likes that they have their own part that is easy to read, but the books are able to have more of an actual story since the parent part supplements it. They get harder as you work through the series, and I think toward the end they may get rid of the parent part.

Edit: Try this and other similar book lists too. https://www.the-best-childrens-books.org/guided-reading-levels.html
The level A-D books are a good place to start, and you can probably find some of them at the library. I think my son's kindergarten teacher said they wanted them reading level C well and independently by the end of kindergarten. But no matter what level your child is at right now, it can help figure out what to try next.

If you’re having success with the decodable books from Flyleaf and Bob Books, you should try the ‘Primary Phonics’ book series, as well as the ‘Alphabet Series’ books. I work in schools, and often do reading groups with struggling readers. For the kids that need that explicit instruction and decodable texts, these two series have been great. They slowly add more vowel sounds and levels of complexity. The first books have mostly CVCs, with a few sight words, then slowly add blends, digraphs, multisyllabic words, etc. The kids I work with find the Alphabet Series stories more engaging and interesting than the Primary Phonics ones, but you could buy just the first set of each, and see what you prefer.

You can also order workbooks that go along with them, if that interests you. But you could probably start by just ordering the first set of story books in each series, and see how that goes.

We did Preschool Prep books. They have a DVD ( I know you don't do screen time but we were stuck in the van a lot driving siblings around and the music was nice) they
have different levels. https://www.amazon.com/Meet-Sight-Words-Level-Reader/dp/1935610007/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3TBDHM9QO6BZB&dchild=1&keywords=preschool+prep+books&qid=1620078757&sprefix=preschool+prep++books%2Caps%2C189&sr=8-3

I like the Biscut, Pete the Cat and I can read series. For non fiction, I REALLY like this series:

Bullfrog books. My first animal library (https://find.minlib.net/iii/encore/search/C__SBullfrog%20books.%20My%20first%20animal%20libr ary__Orightresult?lang=eng&suite=cobalt)

Cari Meister wrote many (but not all) of them. They're a bit higher reading level wise, but for NF, they are pretty low and still well done. dd2 has read most if not all that were available in our library system.

Both my DDs had great success and enjoyment with the series "The Big <color> Book of Beginner Books" -- they are simple, words are easy to sound out (I think that's what decodable means??), and DD enjoyed the stories.

Here's an example -- they have lots of different colors:

We used the “I Can Read It!” books in kindergarten; there are 3 volumes that each get progressively more difficult. Some of the stories are a little odd to keep them decodable, but my kids all liked them (and they never liked BOB books).
