I have gone through 2 bottles of Skinceuticals CE Ferulic since January...but it is so pricey and I am disappointed that it does start to oxidize before I am done with the bottle.

What other cheaper options are there out there that still work? Would be willing to toss/replace more often if it's not so expensive.

I LOVE the Drunk Elephant one! It’s called C-Firma day serum. You can get the sample bottles for $21 and they last a long time. I think the full size is $80?

I love Beautycounter’s Vitamin C. It is about $80. I tried Mad Hippie and it okay but I ended up dumping it in the old empty bottle of Beautycounter (because I hadn’t tossed the bottle yet) because I didn’t like the dropper application on the Mad Hippie. The Mad Hippie is so much better priced, but I really like the Beautycounter one a lot. The bottle lasts a good six months.

I have been using a compound from a pharmacist friend, but it's oxidizing too fast too. I loved BeautyCounter's vitamin C (yellow bottle), but the price has increased dramatically from last year when I bought it. I'm thinking about trying this one from Costco. https://www.costco.com/dermadoctor-kakadu-c-20%25-vitamin-c-serum%2c-2-pack.product.100310886.html

I was considering just biting the bullet and buying the BeautyCounter vitamin C along with my favorite cream blush, but they discontinued the blush. :(

Yes I noticed the price increase as well. With a 25% off consultant discount last year it was $59.25 with a list price $79. It is now $82. Their most normal discount when discounts are offered is 15% off so if you wait (for maybe Black Friday….that might be the next promo window) for that promo then the price will be $69.70. I bought my last bottle in early March so yes it lasted about 6 months.

They just reissued some cream blushes. I hate that they discontinued the powder blush.

So does my sister and I wanted to love the VItamin C but it just seems so runny to me. Maybe it just the dropper application I don’t like. I like it slightly more in the pump bottle I put it. I will continue to use it until it is empty so I will see how I end up liking at the end of the bottle.

I use the one you use (although I don't know about the oxidizing issue), Drunk Elephant or Obagi's version, which is much cheaper than Skinceuticals. Also, try Epionce Intense Defense! Also cheaper per bottle, much easier to travel with so way more portable. Drunk Elephant is also easier to take on the road.

I switched from Ole Henriksen to Zo by Obagi https://zoskinhealth.com/collections/anti-aging/products/10-vitamin-c-self-activating?variant=31618263711859

It's a cream with a pump, so there's almost no oxidation. It feels like a primer and is very easy to apply. When I used serum, I always felt like I was leaving more on my fingers than my face.

Maelove The Glowmaker serum for sure. Also has ferulic acid and E. I also use the Moonlight retinal serum on my neck because it's too sensitive for my tretinoin. When I'm done with my current facial oil I'm going to order their version that is very close to Vitner's Daughter. Anyway, high end formulas with a fantastic price point.https://maelove.com/

I use this product from mad hippie, I couldn't deal with the vitamin c serums oxidizing. I think it makes a huge difference, but maybe the pure serum would make more of a difference if I stuck with it...[emoji2368] It lasts forever!!

How does everyone know their vitamin C serums are oxidizing? [emoji848] I've never noticed anything different with mine. I go through 1 bottle a month.

ETA: Just found this Reddit post about Mad Hippie vitamin C serum oxidizing: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/bnti7w/product_question_is_this_mad_hippie_vitamin_c/

It goes from clear to darker orange. I can't remember where I read it and I definitely don't know the chemistry, but I thought it was a sign of decreased efficacy. If you go through a bottle/month then maybe yours is good! I just don't want to spend $180 then throw it out after 2 months because I didn't use it fast enough. I go through the bottle every 4-5 months so it gets pretty dark orange by the end. If I were paying less for it then I wouldn't mind as much tossing it after it turned though.

ETA - I just found this post googling around. I think this explains it pretty well. Maybe I should just spring for the skinceuticals. https://labmuffin.com/ultimate-guide-to-vitamin-c-skincare-part-1-ascorbic-acid-with-video/#more-11646

I just opened a new bottle the other day of skinceuticals. It’s orange. I have been using for years and it’s never been clear.

Dang how much are you using? Maybe I am not using enough. I use about a dropper every morning.

Also love Timeless. Got the rec from Angie Hot and Flashy.

Before i discovered Angie and Timeless, I used and loved PTR Power C Serum. You could get a sample from Sephora to try. IT's a wonderful cream that did not bother my sensitive skin. Pricey though. https://www.sephora.com/product/potent-c-power-serum-P428100

Have you ever tried the Ordinary or Inkey list vitamin C serums or creams? They get great reviews and cost less than $10. I use a few of their product (not vitamin C) and I really like them.

For those who wanted the BeautyCounter brand, it's 15% off with free shipping right now. I'm going to order more and probably return the costco stuff.
