Boston-Seaport District?

Getting together with some friends for one night in Boston in July (we're all vaccinated-yay!). Thinking about the Seaport area, since it's near the water.

Looking for nice hotel where we could walk around and also enjoy dining out. Outdoor seating/restaurant/lounge would be a plus. Not looking to do much else but hang out together, possibly walk around the neighborhood shopping. Is there any nightlife here? Not sure if the Seaport district has much of that, would appreciate any tips!

Possibly driving into the city or taking the T, not sure yet.
