Logistics of camping with a 16 month old?

MIL was supposed to watch DS2 while DH and I took DS1 on a special camping trip for his 5th birthday, however, she backed out after keeping them both for 3 days. So, it looks like our options are, find another babysitter, take DS2 with us, or stay in a cabin. I think the most favorable option would be to just take him with us. He just started walking last week, so he is still wobbling about. We could get a backpack carrier frame for him for hiking, but what else would we need? I don't think the pack n play would fit well in our tent, but we I have seen those Peapod travel beds that look neat. Any suggestions to make the trip go smoothly? Any BTDT? Thanks!
