Stage 2 Gerber Goodstart Formula

Has anyone use the Stage 2 Goodstart Formula? I can't seem to find anywhere nearby that stocks it, so I am assuming most people use the stage 1 from birth - 12 months.

Anyone familiar with it? Why does Gerber recommend the second stage?
