Experts and stroller affictionados help! My "stable" needs editing. :)

Although my youngest will be 3 in November, I still totally need strollers and use them every day though! I have three strollers but I don't feel like I have QUITE the right ones for my needs right now. Can you guys help?

I have:

Mountain Buggy Urban Single in only OK condition. The lack of perfect condition bothers me. It also doesn't have the greatest sun shade. It DOES have the best push ever. I'm totally spoiled by it.

Mountain Buggy Urban Double in perfect condition. This is my dream stroller and the favorite I've ever had. I never use it though. It is just too big to be in my car and I no longer do walks with 2 kids. I have half a notion to keep this one just because in an emergency I could seriously transport all 4 of my kids to Canada. I'm kidding but it really is that well made (and that beautiful)

Britax B-Ready, currently in doubles mode. This is the stroller I've used every single day since DD was born. It is looking a little worn. It has a tear where it got caught in my Mom's trunk and the fabric is a little faded--NOT from being left out but seriously just from BEING outside every day.

For the past nearly 3 years I ONLY used the B-Ready.

What's missing in my lineup is a really easy to use (but still moderately full featured) single stroller. My Mom would like to take DD to the zoo but she wants a stroller that is super easy to fold and carry. I'm thinking like the City Mini. But I don't have one of those.

Also, the stroller I use for my daily walk is not totally my favorite. I love my MB but the beat up outside bothers me as does the crumbly sun shade. I want to think that if I buy an City Mini GT it could work for my mom (or for small errands) OR it could work for my daily walks. I'm not sure I'd like it though!

I also still need a double, but only for occasional use/amusement parks etc. Though honestly DS3 hops into the b-ready at pickup every day...

What strollers should I keep? What new ones do I need (if any)?

I do not have a lot of experience to allow for comparisons, but I really love our city mini gt!! I got it based on recommendations here and wish I had gotten it much sooner. The only thing I wish I could change is the small basket.

Single Bob. Your other kid can hitch a ride. Great push. Just teach your mom how to open/close it. (Get rid of the other strollers).

My brother bought a bob and s regular BJCM. They are using the BJCM primarily. The bob is just annoying to put in and out of the car. I would probably use the double you like for neighborhood walks even if you only have one kid and get a BJCM. I would get rid of the britax and the other single.

I would sell all three and get a single Bob. Your older child can hitch a ride in the foot well when needed. And maybe an umbrella stroller (we love our Mac quest) or av a valco snap (similar to a city mini but I think a little bigger seat and lighter weight. You could always being both to the amusement park.

Interesting! I think I came up with the same two strollers as front runners--the BOB and BJCM. I was wondering if the getting the GT makes it almost like the good parts of each one of those!

I'm undecided. As a lifelong MB lover, I would almost feel unfaithful going with a BOB. And although it would be new, I don't know that I'd get MUCH more out of it than I would out of my MBUS. Better canopy for sure though!

Maybe I keep the MBUS and get a BJCM for errands and day to day stuff and for my mom.

The only thing I'm starting to wonder about is how it would work on my drop off situation. The school that DS3 is at has a terrible drop off parking situation but since he's in TK I have to walk him in. The surrounding area has uneven ground, silty sandy in one spot, and all kinds of weird curbs. I'm wondering if the BJCM would even work on that terrain? The MBUS would handle it deftly, but I hate having it in the back of my van. Is the BOB better as far as folding and in trunks? I wonder if I can borrow a BJCM from a friend for a few days and see if it would work for me. I really like the idea of one stroller.

You need a Bob or MB to go over uneven terrain. BJCM is just for sidewalks, pavements, smooth surfaces. And your older kid can sit in the footwell if necessary. I also have a B-agile, which is the same as a BJCM, and I never use it. I only use it if I'm on a trip and know I won't have space in the rental car for our suitcases and a Bob. I prefer to travel with the Bob though. Yes, the fold is a little more complicated, but unless you are folding it and carrying the stroller places, I don't see how it would make much of a difference,

You would be fine with the GT on fields. I use my valco snap duo on uneven terrain with my 2 and 5 year old. I think you would be fine with the regular BJCM but with the gt, you definitely will be.

This new school I drop off at is TOUGH! It was the silty, dirt/sand stuff outside that really tripped up even my big 12 inch b-ready wheels for the first time ever. Yes, it is the toughest terrain we've encountered yet. I'm going to try it with the MB this week and with the CM. I don't have any friends with GTs so I can't try that one. I think this particular year is going to be about really rugged terrain AND lots of in and outs of the car. I'll let you guys know what seems like it will work best.

we still have our b-ready, even though it doesn't get a ton of use, it's so handy for travel long weekends, etc. when both kids need a seat. I will probably keep it until DD turns 5 or so. As a wildcard, we love and mostly use our Indie + Boogie board these days: https://www.bumbleride.com/mini-board-toddler-board. We have a 3rd, a nice but lightweight easy to fold umbrella stroller, which we never use.

Do you drive or walk to school?

How often is your mom taking your DD to the zoo? If it's 1/month or less, I would just get a single bob. It's not that hard to fold up and get in the car. Especially if it's only once in a while. It's also fine for Disneyland. DS3 can ride in the footwell when he gets tired.

Yes... I agree. The advantage to the Bob is totally that foot well for the second child!

Eta: I may be biased, because I would love to have a single Bob, for many of the same reasons. We have a Bob with a fixed front wheel that dh uses to run with and he doesn't want the smaller wheel. So.... That really limits of use if that stroller to running. I use a city versa, now with a bassinet. and later the seat, which is fine for paved surfaces. I looked at buying the gt wheels, but it's already so heavy, and I wasn't sure it would be that much of an improvement. I still love my Mac quest for all short errands.

I'm like you, my favorite strollers have been my MBUS and MBUD. They plow over everything! I have even had a full grown man on one side of the MBUD and the push was amazing. I also had a BOB single and loved it for the extra seat in the foot well! The fold was different than the MBs. It's more square and taller. What I missed was the standing fold. I loved that for storage. It had to sit on the floor, square shape, in my way. But, if it will always be stored in your vehicle, it will be fine. You may want to get a stroller which will suit your needs on a daily basis and pick up an easy fold CM or CMGT for your Mom off of craig's list to keep at her house.

I was wondering if you have narrowed down your choices? We both have been on the boards a long time and have similar tastes in strollers, so I'm curious to see what you decide!

Valco Snap4 with added air tires. My one and only and fits all your recs for a single and can add a wheeled rider when needed.

I thought I'd update. I'm going to stick with a big all-terrain. I am using my MBUS right now and I'm just so in love. I haven't minded that it is big and hard to get out of the car at all. In fact, I love pushing it so much that I almost look forward to taking DD out of the car seat and pushing her in it, lol. That never happened while using the B-Ready. It was 100% necessary for me and used daily for 2.5 years but it wasn't love, it was tolerance!

So it isn't completely perfect though. I definitely doesn't fit my mom's criteria of being able to fold easily if she wanted to go to the zoo. But I really have no idea how often that will even be a consideration! I'm going to prioritize my every day convenience.

I have 3 small issues with using the MBUS.

1. sunshade. We walk at 8:00 a.m. so the morning sun is very strong in one direction. My older MBUS has a very insufficient sun shade.
2. Lack of ability to take a second rider. I actually had an errand where I had both kids and they had no shoes! I put my newly 5yo on the sunshade and rolled him around. It was....not ideal though frankly he loved it.
3. It isn't "perfect" looking.

I think an aftermarket shade (while annoying) can fix the problem with the sunshade. Or I can get sunglasses for DD. She might like that.

For the second rider, I don't really have a fix. I find that he's using the stroller less and less. Maybe I'll hang onto the B-Ready for another year or so. It can be my Disneyland/Zoo/Library stroller. I'll just make sure I have extra shoes in the car, lol.

I think for the price (FREE) of keeping the MBUS I can live with somewhat imperfect looks. I don't really prefer the new MBs or the BOB for that matter and I'd spend a lot more for them. The Bumbleride Indie's have some amazingly beautiful strollers but all the ones I like are OOS AND I'm not sure the push and fold can compare with my beloved MBs. Another option is to troll craigslist for a nice, older, USED MB. I got both my MBUD and my MBUS from craigslist but the double was in much better condition. I can turn around and sell my MBUS to make up the price.

Anyway, thought I'd update.

I found out that I'm 100% a push snob kind of girl and that the extra seconds to fold the stroller (and heft it!) are worth it to me for its superior performance!

OK. I just checked the MB website and you can buy new seat fabric and a new shade for the older models. I just ordered the new shade. It is going to look much better and I THINK it will also be more functional! I ordered the shade in Ocean, this gorgeous turquoise blue. I am going to save up and try to afford the new seat fabric in black. For $120 (both shade and seat fabric) I'll have a new looking (more functional) stroller and the same exact push that I love. :)

Hahaha, somehow I knew you couldn't give up the MB love! I am also a push snob! We have a lot of broken blue stone sidewalks in my neighborhood. I just found out that I'm going to be a grandma again in March! I've had a long dry spell in DGC! I have (2) 2004 MBUS. One black and the navy one from when Right Start closed. The navy looks brand new, but I never liked the fabric, it was stiff and scratchy compared to the black. I have a brand new, never used blue cloud shade that will go on the black! It's so pretty. But, I will need to get new tires, the original tires are dry rot from sitting! I don't see anything that I like as well; although the Valco Snap4 looks interesting with the light weight and option of air tires! I read that the new models don't have the puzzle buckle on the harness, so I will take a look! Thanks so much for the update!
