RE: Advice on Plantar Wart - What kind of doctor?
I had a couple removed a few years ago. I went to a dermatologist. She froze it with liquid nitrogen, then gave me a topical cream that I applied after soaking my foot every night for a couple of weeks. They are gone and have never returned. FYI, I do NOT recommend having this done the day before you are moving from one apartment to another (on the third floor, no elevator of course). :P It wasn't terribly painful, but walking was definitely sore for a couple of days.
RE: Advice on Plantar Wart - What kind of doctor?
I'd go to a dermatologist. Though chances are, it will eventually go away on its own. I've had them a few times - after DS1 was born, I had quite a few, in fact, and they all went away when I got pregnant with DS2 (and haven't come back, knock on wood).
RE: Advice on Plantar Wart - What kind of doctor?
Definitely go to a dermatologist. I had what I thought was a wart on my foot, went to a podiatrist who did a total hack job of removing it after misdiagnosing it as someone else. I had to go to the derm anyway to get it biopsied, and to clean up the mess that the podiatrist made.

Dermatologist definitely. About 12 years ago I had roughly 25 removed from both my feet. The doc used liquid nitrogen. Be sure to have loose fitting sandals with you to wear home because your feet will hurt.

RE: Advice on Plantar Wart - What kind of doctor?
I had one on the bottom for my foot for years and years. All the OTC stuff did nothing but make it bigger and harder. I went through 2 rounds of trying to freeze it off before it finally disappeared completely. My regular PCP did the procedure, I didn't even think about trying go to a specialist or anything.

Advice on Plantar Wart - What kind of doctor?
So I have a icky plantar wart on the bottom of my foot (for those that don't know this is the only place this type occurs). Initially I tried treating with OTC stuff but it wasn't fully going away. Then I tried stronger OTC stuff (allegedly the same stuff the doctor uses - dry ice stuff), but it still hasn't gone away, and in fact is getting bigger! ;(
I guess there's no escaping that I need to go to the doctor's to have it removed, but I'm not sure what kind of doctor. Do I go to a Podiatrist because it's a foot issue, or do I go to a Dermatologist because it's a skin issue?
Anyone BTDT and can tell me what kind of doctor they saw? I can self-refer to a specialist so I have no need or desire to go to a GP just to send me someplace else.
Thanks,

Well, I'm the minority and say podiatrist. Then again, I've been seeing my foot and ankle guy for so long, I'm expecting that they will be putting a plaque up outside the exam room with my name on it. ;)

Hmm... maybe I'll try the duct tape tonight - I could always cancel a doctor's appointment.
