Sewing machine prices on the rise

For all you sewing mamas who have been dreaming of a new machine, a PSA.
Bernina has told its dealers that machine prices will increase significantly (15%) on January 1. It has to do with the weakness of the dollar against the yen and so forth. I would expect to see similar increases from other manufacturers shortly, especially from the higher-end brands. I imagine most dealers will increase their prices immediately. Most don't keep a large inventory, so they won't have a big stock to sell off before their costs go up.

Just in case anyone was waiting in hopes of a big sale in January, y'know? I ouldn't wait too long. You can probably get your dealer to answer a point-blank question about near-future pricing, though, if you aren't sure what will be happening with your favorite brand.

Darn, I was hoping to get a new serger this year. Too bad it's too late to add that onto my Christmas list!
