I'm looking for a video monitor... not sure what a visual sound meter is... does this monitor have a picture screen to see baby? Thanks!

We've had 2 monitors that are great at the beginning, but have found that neither of them has lasted more than 2 years. They both ( a Philips & Fisher Price Lights & sounds) have developed the "staticky" problem.
I'd love to know if anyone has had a long term monitor that has lasted through multiple children.
