Need a rug and more wall art ideas if you can! Colors are yellow and olive. Need rug with not a lot of other colors in it. I have three more fern prints to fill in the gap aboove crib. Thanks for any help you can give me, the only rug I have found that I like is Karastan yellow/cream checked broadloom for $11 psf, not going to happen. We also have ordered shutters. Also have two bumpers left to sew... my first sewing project and likely my last!! Thanks!

What a gorgeous room! I love everything about it, especially the little window alcove. I am so envious!

My only idea is those letter animal cards (http://www.landofnod.com/landofnod/p...orativeAccents) that a lot of people have. We have these hanging in our playroom, which is painted olive, and they look great because the colors are somewhat more subdued than typical kids' art. The bottom of each card (the ground the animal stands on) is light yellow, which might look nice with your yellow walls.

I have no ideas about rugs, sorry. But that is an absolutely beautiful nursery!!

What a beautiful room, Susan. I love the window and the built-ins.

Not sure if this is your style, but http://www.millsriver.com/ has braided rugs in a variety of colors and materials. They may be able to come up with something subtle for you.

As far as the walls go, how about letters spelling DC's name or a special word? I've seen several styles on eBay. Maybe a nice serif font hung from ribbons in your color scheme? Not sure what's opposite the crib, but a vintage-y etched mirror could work, too.

Good luck with your final preparations!

The room is absolutely beautiful. One thing on safety, though. I was reading an article that said not to put glass frames above the crib, because a vibration could make them fall and hit the little one on the head. So, I plan to put the framed photos I had planned to place above the crib to another wall, and I am planning on getting some quilted fabric items or other soft pieces for directly above the crib. Also, maybe a wall clock?

I think the braided rug idea is just the ticket, thank you for your suggestion! Now it is so darn hard to know rug colors from looking on the net, arrghhh!

I didn't end up ordering from Mills River, but they did provide me with fabric samples. I'm sure if you requested them, they'd be happy to mail some to you!

Hi Susan, Christine is right. I ordered my braided rug from Mills River in 2004 and they sent me a swatch very quickly.

I love our rug from them. It is such an array of gorgeous colors and so sturdy, yet soft, not abrasive for the kids to sit or crawl on. I plan to get another one from them for the new baby's nursery, too.

By the way, if you look under my post in the "Completed Nurseries Pics" thread that is pinned to the top of this board you can see pics of my rug there. I went with a Vintage series octagonal one.

    Susan,

I LOVE your room! Everything about it! You have such a sophisticated and muted color tone that maybe some enlarged B&W photos in solid black or vintage silver and gold frames would blend in very nicely. I love the way B&W photos pull out the huges in olives, golds, and other warm colors without compeating. If you have any photos of your family as babies or even older family photos they would make a nice montage over the lounger. A rug with a deep red base would really pull it all together. Look on ebay on the Rugman's store. He has some wonderful Gabbeh rugs that you can get at a steal. It would keep the sophisticated look you've establish and translate well to another room down the road. Wonderful job! If you really wanted to be bold you could even do a vintage finish on your Jenny Lind crib in a deep crimson and it would really pop in the nursery. LOVE your color choices!
A mirror on the wall opposite the window will help bring in some light also.

I have this rug in my daughter's room, and our rooms are very similar in color pallete:

    http://www.capelrugs.com/catalog.asp...pid=1000000000

Let me know if the link doesn't work. It is a Capel rug called Elizabeth; the color is Chamois. I purchased it from Wood Armfield in NC. Attaching pic of rug.

I have framed rose pictures that I purchased from Ebay above Grace's bed. They are very vintage. I also have 3 framed prints from http://www.vintagegardens.net/framed...categories.htm in her room. They are beautiful. The frames make the pictures. I used the cream colored frames. They are very distressed and look old. I am attaching below.

I will upload pics of G's nursery later. Too bad I can't let go of her bedding. I wouldn't have been beautiful in your room.

I love those pictures! I may try to get them for our dd's nursery. I'll have to see if they are still available. I think we're going to do that Shabby Chic look from babystyle.com http://babystyle.com/common/dProduct...d=15242&dept=4 Maybe those prints will go.

What bedding did you use with your dd's room?

    Thanks for sharing!
