Default What would you do with this nursery window?

It's the only window in the room, this will be the new baby's nursery (a girl). The overhang is causing me concern. The only thing I can come up with are plantation shutters. But since it's the only window in the room I'm worried it will seem too closed up (even when they're open). Any thoughts and/or other ideas for this odd window?

ETA: This will most likely be our new house, we have a contract on it and are set to close the end of May (contingent on the sale of our current home though).

    Thanks!

Sorry the pic is a little dark.

I can't tell if I'm looking at it right, but it looks to me like the window is in a corner. If so, plantation shutters might be hard to completely move out of the way if you wanted a lot of light (I'm thinking of the kind you can pull away from the window like shutters - but maybe there is some other kind I don't know about). How about some sort of nice roman shade or even a roller blind, topped with a valance? That way the shade could be hidden away when you want light (since you just have the one window) but could provide nice light coverage for naps.

Congrats on finding a new home!

Bonnie, what about something like this?

It's from PBK and if you look thru their catalog, you'll find that in some pics they hang these type of shades on a regular rod, and in some they hang it on a tension type rod that is inside of the window area, rather than attached outside of it. We have one that my mom made, similar to this that hangs on a tension rod and it looks great!

A cordless blackout cellular shade mounted inside, with some kind of wispy overlay or valence, like the ones Andrea (amp) posted.
