air tires for a "non-tricycle" ??

DD is getting a tricycle to be used at Nanny's house. We have decided to wait and get her a 10" or 12" bike (she already has a riding toy at our house that she loves). Anyway, can you get a 10" or 12" bike with air tires or do you buy the bike and then go to a bike shop (or somewhere else??) and buy air tires for it??

I think it depends on the bike. I thought I saw one in the park the other day that didn't have air tires (it looked like a cross between a bike and trike). But all of the ones (12") we've been looking at have air tires.
