I have been looking around a bit and I am still trying to get info on this one offered at Sam's Club:
    http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/nav...41&prDeTab=2#A

Size and power are comparable to the Kitchaid mixers priced higher at other places.

We have a KitchenAid Artisan mixer - can't remember the bowl size but it's plenty big. :) I looooove the mixer, it is so much easier than my mom's old Sunbeam. It does everything we need it to. We have a family friend who owns a catering business and uses KitchenAid mixers (though hers are the larger professional ones) - seemed like a good endorsement to me!

Wow, thank you for your responses. For some reason, I trust the BBB input more than the feedback I get on other sites.

I have just one more question. The one you recommended has 250 watts. Is that suffice? Is more watts better?

    Thank you!

I got the Kitchen Aid as a gift two years ago. I love it and use it all the time. Mine was the Costco version, which they always carry. It's been plenty enough powerful for me. I think I would like the tilt head but having to push the lever to lower the bowl has never bothered me because that is what my mom had and I grew up using hers.

As far as capacity, my in-laws bought us a 6-quart KitchenAid mixer when we got married. Let's just say it is too much mixer for our household. lol. It's huge and heavy and we aren't the type to make huge bacthes or else mix lots of stiff doughs, e.g. breads. It's cobalt blue (but looks more like a blue-purple and I call it Grimace -- like the McDonald's character). I would have preferred a smaller one and to this day I say we should swap, but DH says he likes the one we have. I think he just doesn't want to offend his mom.

Another vote for investing in the KitchenAid! And I also agree that you should spring for another bowl or two. Very convenient to have if you're doing several batches of something.

We have the smaller, more basic model. Love it love it love it. :)

I love my KitchenAid! It is easy to use and I never, ever worry that it is going to give out on me. Plus, it looks so pretty sitting on my counter.

Oh yes, I would get one in a heartbeat. We have the classic size and I have an extra bowl but no other attachments. I used it a lot before DS came along, I used to bake a lot (but not bread).

My mom had a Sunbeam, I think, which still works but my Kitchen Aid is so much sturdier. I also have a hand mixer which I use occasionally but the Kitchen Aid is great when you have something that needs to beat for a while, no more standing there while your arm gets tired.

ITA that getting an extra bowl would be a good idea. ;) I'm in the Pro 6 camp.

I love my KitchenAid mixer and would highly recommend it. They have a great discussion forum on their website were people talk about all the pros and cons of the various Kitchenaid mixers. I researched it extensively before I chose the model I bought. It is a great source of information. Here is the link:

Just scroll down to the stand mixer section and I am sure you will find an answer to any questions you have. I will admit I was a bit addicted to this forum until I chose the model I bought.

    Have fun!
