Default medicine cabinet for a toddler

what kind of medicine should we keep at the house? i finally started stocking pedialyte singles in case of diarrhea/vomiting and always have tylenol around. what else should i have? what does everyone keep in their toddler's medicine cabinet? i'm thinking probably some cold medicine, benadryl?, motrin?, any brand recommendations also? TIA!

Here is what we have (all generic unless not available as generic):

Pedialyte - singles and freezer pops
    Tylenol
    Motrin
    Sudafed
    Benydrl
    Lotramin
    Gentian Violet
Dimatapp Elixar (though this has been reformulated so I'm not sure what we will do when this bottle runs out, darn meth addicts anyway..) - or any combo antihistamine/decongestant/cough suppressant
    Saline nose spray

We have Tylenol and Motrin. We have a 24 hour drug store nearby, so if I need something else, I go get it. My kids have been pretty healthy and I don't want medicine to go unused and expire and go to waste. Also, I don't want someone accidently giving a kid expired medicine.

I used to do generic, but do Tylenol and Motrin now because they have dye-free versions.

We keep benadryl, tylenol, and motrin on-hand. All generic brands. I could be wrong, but I don't think Pedialyte has a very long shelf-life, so I don't know about stockpiling it...

Here's what we keep stocked in ours:

    Motrin
    Tylenol
Motrin Cold (has a decongestant in it)
    Benedryl
Saline nose spray (we use Little Noses brand)
    Neosporin and Bactine for cuts

also, we keep a poison control kit that we found at BRU - it has charcoal and syrup of ipecac.

    I think that's it!

We keep Benadryl, tylenol, advil, triaminic strips for cough and cold, and saline nose spray on hand at all times. Between those 5 things plus a steamy shower - there's nothing we can't handle.

don't know about pedilyte shelf life, but gerber makes/made little single serving powdered packets of their liquilytes you add water to when you need it. i'd imagine it has a much longer shelf life. for some reason, my grocery store stoped carrying them, so i'm not sure if gerber or just my grocery discontinued the item. i did find a box at walgreens last time i was there, so i bought one for a back-up since our first box was half gone with DS's only bad illness (knock on wood) episode so far. he pretty much flat out refused the pedialyte which is why i tried the liquilytes. i've since read in the archives here that this is an uncommon problem (kids refusing pedialyte but willing to take liquilytes). DS doesn't get juice so he's not used to sweetened beverages really, at this point - ymmv.
