Default Painting Costco Pink Retro Kitchen

    Hey all!
I posted about Costco having these in the other day and we went and got one- I have a DS and got it cause I love the style (he loves the one's at PBKs when we go there) but those are not in our budget. However as you know it's PINK! Has anyone had experience painting this or know how? I don't want to ruin it and if it can't be painted I'll take it back but it's the perfect set. I'd like to paint it Red like the one at PBKs but I don't want it to look horrible or anything either.

Any advice would be great! I searched old posts but could not find one where someone painted this actual set!

    thanks!

Some else asked this question a few months ago. Anything can be painted if you are willing to put the time into it. I suggest taking one the small interior shelves from the fridge and bringing it to Home Depot. Ask the guys there what would be the best solution. There is a lot of laquer on the set, so you may need to do some light sanding or get a good primer. I'm going to guess that spray paint in the way to go.

thanks! I emailed Kidkraft as well and she said NOT to paint it. Here's what she said:

"Once our products are painted, they are then finished with a final layer in order to seal in the paint and finish the item with a shine. It is not our recommendation to any consumer to re-paint any items. "

Anyway, so wonder if I should return it and just get my DS another set? It seems may not be worth the hassle and what if it doesn't look good in the end? I'd be curious to hear if anyone actually did paint this before I decide but I do appreciate your reply!

I did a search and found these threads with people who painted it, or painted a different style of kitchen that is probably made with similar paint and mdf wood. The first two have photos and how-to instructions.
