Is a 4.5 year old infant car seat too old to use for a new baby?

Hi,
I was wondering if I can use my carseat from our 1st child for our 3rd? I have not heard any thing but I would like to know if it safe.

As long as the seat hasn't been recalled (check with nhtsa.dot.gov) and hasn't been in an accident, it is fine! But many of the seats from the mid 1990's were recalled, so check it first. (Also look at the maker's web site for info).
