Flipping the buckle is for a FF seat only. There's a different belt path for FF seats and I have been told that you need to flip the buckle for FF installs on airplanes because otherwise, the buckle is too tight against the back of the seat to undo it at the end of the flight.

I believe that you only need to flip the buckle on front-facing installations so that the buckle opens toward the airplane seat back and not into the plastic on the back of the car seat. Good Luck!

Ok you are all going to laugh but my brain cant process this flipping of the buckle!

Do you literally just twist the fabric/webbing so the buckle faces the other way?????

Yes, it's not a push button like a car, the airplane buckle needs pulling up to release, so if the release is aimed at the seat back, it works.
