banister to banister gate needed

I can find plenty of wall-to-wall and wall-to-banister baby gates, but we need a banister-to-banister gate. I haven't been able to find one. Any suggestions? (this will be needed for both top of stairs and bottom). Also, will we have to drill holes in our banister?
