Infant Life Preservers

We are going to the beach for a week long vacation. Is it safe to take a 7 month old into the water (Atlantic Ocean, South Carolina)? What kind of life preserver should I use and where can I find one for an infant under 20 lbs? Thanks for your help.

Whether or not to take your baby in the ocean is up to you. I would only go in if it was incredibly calm and I was watching the surf very carefully for big waves and was in shallow enough water to pull the baby out over my head. But that's your call.

We bought a life preserver from One Step Ahead for my 6 month-old to wear when he goes on boats. The small size was good for up to 30 lbs.
