Default Using bed rails w/ a 20 month old

We just started our 20 months DD in a twin bed. (new baby coming soon!). I was going to buy bed rails until I read (in the new Toddler Bargains of course!) that they are potentially dangerous. Was wondering if anyone had any input, and if her being closer to 2 makes it safer to have the rails..
    thanks!

A company that I purchase items from is coming out with a new rail for both sides of the bed that you adjust under the matress and thus snuggly fits both sides and does not separate from either side of the bed! It's due out in November!

Check out the toddler bargains website under toddle bedrooms. I posted this exact question for the Fields' and they replied...

We just put DD (22 mos) in a twin bed. We didnt buy bed rails. We just put a bunch of pillows on the floor and there is nothing near the bed she could fall onto and get hurt (ex. nightstand, hard toys). We are lucky she's never fallen out! But she does get out of bed every night around 3 and comes to visit us... :-)

    Good luck!
