    Default infant lifejacket

Does anyone know of a good infant life jacket and where to get one? We live on a lake and spend a lot of time out on boats and we'd probably like to bring the baby out for a ride sometime in his first year of life, but most of the lifejackets we've found are for childeren over 1. We are aware of the other safety hazards of an infant on a boat, but plan to be careful and just go for a short, slow ride, with the baby.

Has anyone else brought a child less than 1 out on a boat? Thanks

We took DD on a boat last summer for a day. DH went out that morning to get a life jacket for her since we didn't feel comfortable taking her out w/o one. He ended up findig one at a boat store - Boater's World.

They have a website and I was able to find the one that we bought. It's for infants up to 30 pounds. Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/yvswe

It looks like they have several locations. I'm not sure where you are, but perhaps one of their stores is near you?

Here is a listing of the stores: http://www.syr-area.com/boatersworld.html

Target sells this one for $19.99 and it's coast guard approved. Another same exact version is by Speedo. Only difference between Speedo and Stearns are the colors. We just got one over the weekend because we're going to the lake once weather warms up.

I bought Nate's infant lifejacket (Coastguard approved) at K-Mart last year. We took him out on a motor boat a few times when he was about 6-months-old (not my first choice; it was a family trip and I couldn't get out of it). The most uncomfortable part for him really seemed to be the constriction of the lifejacket.

We just got one for Billy at BJ's. It was 15.99 and was Coast Guard approved. We got Finding Nemo and they also had Baby Pooh.
