Default Babyproofing lever handles without holes

Are there any products on the market that allow you to babyproof a lever door handle without making holes in the door? I almost bought a Kidko lock from One Step Ahead yesterday but noticed that it comes with screws so won't work for us.

DS loves to empty shoes from our coat and walk-in closet. It drives me crazy. At least I can put a heavy box (35 lbs. bag of dog food works great) in front of the coat closet. No such luck with a walk-in closet that opens AWAY from you.

We have this one--we got it at BRU.

I've also seen it at Target under the Parent's Magazine brand.

We have the same Parents Magazine one the PP posted a link to. It doesn't require additional holes to be added, you just have to take off part of your door knob, put on the lock and then put everything back together.

I like the concept of the OSA one you linked to, but the only thing stopping me from trying it, is that it says in the print catalog that it "automatically resets"--if it truly resets on it's own, I can only image DD shutting the door on me while I'm on the inside and she's on the outside (like our closet and pantry), IYKWIM...

Thank you for the recommendation, Deb. I have to get a couple of those prompto, closet emptying is driving me crazy. Hopefully I can assemble it myself.

I have several of the OSA lever handle locks in my use around my house and love them! You do not have to disassemble the handle to install these as you do with the other ones. The handle cover simply snaps onto the lever. Then you stick the top latch to your door. You don't have to use the screws because the adhesive is very strong. It took my hubby a matter of seconds to put these on versus having to remove each handle with the other brand. Also, I read on another message board that the Safety 1st/Parents brand does not work with Schlage lever handles which its what we have in our home.

There is no way you can get locked into the room or closet because of the design of the lock. The handle cover is two separate pieces so the bottom one moves down when you're on the opposite side of the door. I wish I could think of an analogy to describe it but I haven't had enough coffee yet.

Last but not least, OSA is not the only seller of the Kidco lever lock. You can find it much cheaper at other sites. I found it for it for $6.60 at ActiveK9.com.

I looked at the Kidco one at BRU yesterday. You can actually install it using adhesive pads or screws. They are both in the package.

The only downfall to that lock is that is automatically resets and locks when you close the door. So if you have it on the basement door and close the door behind you, you will locked down there! D'oh!
