Default How do you secure drawers to not come all the way out?

We have two pieces of furniture that we want to use in our playroom, but both have heavey drawers that will come all of the way out and fall on little toes.

I've looked everywhere and can't find anything about how to LET THE DRAWER OPEN, but not let the drawer come all the way out of the piece of furniture.

    Any ideas????

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

This is a function of the drawer glides - there are some out there that are specifcally made to not come out without pushing a release tab. If you are fairly handy, you can replace the drawer glides. They are sold at Lowes and Home Depot and you should be able to check them out before buying. Some will let the drawer open fully (full-extension) and others only let them come out 3/4 of the way.

If you can't replace them, then a drawer lock is needed if you really want to use this furniture. The kids wouldn't be able to open them by themselves, but they they can't get them out either.

One last option is to completely remove the drawers and cut a piece of wood to fit on the bottom of the open area to make an open shelf. You could then get some lightweight baskets to store things and put the drawer away until the kids are much older.
