Default Any suggestions for Window Guards?

We just moved into a 2 story and the windows are fairly low to the floor. I'm not sure what kind of guards to use. My husband told me you need to make sure they easily come off in case of fire. Any thoughts?

What kind of windows do you have? (single hung, double-hung, casement? Wood, aluminum, etc?) And how old are your kids?

The full-bar guards are quite pricey - $50+ per window, so you need to decide if you want those on all windows, some windows or some other options of locking the windows such as window wedges

There are also other window locks available at Lowes, HD, etc. which are not technically "child proofing" but would work.
