Default "I don't have the eye for it"

Is what Jonathan told me when I asked him to dust yesterday before his father and step-mother showed up for lunch and to see the new house.

    WTF?

I was running around like a nut trying to clean before going to pick up lunch to serve. I couldn't find him anywhere - until I went in the kitchen to find him PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES. I had a few choice words for him and told him that I needed help. He asked what, I told him the downstairs needed to be dusted.

"I don't know how". My response was that I didn't have time to get out the manual, but generally speaking you take one of those white things in your hand and rub the furniture back and forth till the white dust was gone. Also told him that I was sorry that I forgot to include PhD in aeronautics in my list of what was required of my husband.

That's when I got the line, "Well I don't have the eye for it that you do".

Oh yeah. And that was just the START of my day...

    Yikes, Marisa!
Don't you just love it when they plead ignorance?!?!? I had a doctor's apointment the other morning and dh was going to bring Kasey to school. I rushed around getting her dressed and doing her hair, installing the extra carseat in his car for him, laying out Kasey's coat, and mentioned as I was running out the door to please feed her breakfast. When I got home later I asked him what he gave Kasey for breakfast and he said "oh, I was supposed to give her breakfast??? She never asked for it." Um, she's 3 years-old, it is your JOB as her father to FEED her!
I hope Jonathan came around or, at the very least, you laid a sufficient enough guilt trip on him that he knows to never do that again! Take care!

I hate that... "I didn't know what to feed her" "I didn't know what she was supposed to wear." "I don't bathe her like you do." Ugh...

Oh jeez. Bryan asked if he can borrow that line...

For the next time, there are pictorial directions on the side of the Swiffer box to which Jonathan may refer. :P

That sounds like a Seinfeld episode moment...:)...

I've found that with most men you must give step by step instructions regarding cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, shopping in general, child care. I guess with most anything they are not used to. It's frusterating when you are in a time crunch. You have my full sympathies.

    Uh.

I guess he'd have to learn to DRIVE if I want to send him grocery shopping.

Jonathan technically has a license. He just hasn't driven since the day he got it 22 years ago. True New Yorker, through and through...

    Marisa,

    OMG - he doesn't drive?!?!!?
Well, for your sanity, you better make him brush up on his driving skills FAST. Why I'm saying this - in Jersey suburb-land, you can't get to most places w/o a car.

Oh man, you are a true Goddess for your patience!
