DH's work has been *very* generous with assistance, and already promoted him. But, they are not a big enough company to have had us in a relo situation. Still, it's an awesome change for our family--more time together, better cost of living, equally great amenities from our old hometown, etc.

I am sorry! I totally know the feeling as my house has been on the market for almost 5 months. We have had no lack of showings and two offers. However both offers were less then what we paid for the house 4 years ago. I am willing to go low, but not THAT low! What a horrible time to sell!
Congratulations!!! It must be such a relief for you :).

Yeah!! congratulations!!!!
We on the other hand spent 3 hours cleaning for an open house Sunday and 1 person (who had already been) showed up. Yeah. But I digress...

Well crappity crap crap crap! I'm so sorry! Any chance the buyer will come to her senses???
The house next door to us has been for sale for 26 months. The owners have been in their new house for 14 months and have lowered the price $150,000. The real estate market just sucks right now!
That seems to be a fave realtor tactic - we got hit with a list of ridiculous demands as well once we'd agreed to a price. When you said "no," did you really mean it or were you bargaining? If the offer wasn't feasible, then congratulate yourself for holding firm and not letting emotion carry you into a bad financial decision. If you were playing hardball - well, suck up your pride, call back with a counter-offer. Good luck and hopefully you have a realtor or other dispassionate guide. This house stuff can be so stressful!

Since one just does not simply walk into Mordor, I say we form a conga line and dance our way in.
Excuse me, are you in a play?
Totally...
and the b!tch of it is, if we don't agree, she gets to walk away scot-free.
We were going to be short $20K on the deal as it is (over and above the $$$ we put into upgrades and curb appeal), and she also would have pocketed a 3% commission for buying HERSELF a house!
I'm sure it's karmically just that we start fresh. It wasn't meant to be, I guess...

I know!!!
$6500 to upgrade the electrical (which is perfectly up to code, BTW) and extend the ductwork on the A/C.
Hello! Home improvements are your job, material defects are mine.
So, anyhoodle, we're back to the drawing board.
