Default But what do they look like on normal people?

    Pettiest rant ever...

I was doing a little online window shopping for clothes. I am okay knowing that I have to extrapolate what a garment will look like on me when the model is a good 10 inches taller and 15 pounds lighter. But for pete's sake, must she also be in an oddly contorted position? Does the Gap really think that I want to know how something looks like halfway to a complicated yoga pose? And for crying out loud, don't they know that when the model's arm is flung across her torso, I can't even see what they're trying to sell me?

    :)

I have been paying more attention to clothes on mannequins lately and noticed how many are pinned in the back and such. Jeez, if the mannequins are too small for the clothes to fit the way they are designed then make better mannequins! And if the clothes don't fit the way they are supposed to then don't sell them! Altering garments like that makes it really hard to judge how something is supposed to fit.

Just thought I would join in. :)

I agree. I've been buying lots of clothes lately with all the sales and it's maddening to try on 10 things to buy 1 or 2. It'd be great to see a *normal* sized mannequin in an outfit.

I love them most when they are sleeping.--Me

The same thing is done on actual models for photo shoots. The clothes are clipped and pinned in the back in order to hang the way the designer intended.

Excuse me, are you in a play?
