    Default Sigh...just sigh

So I applied to be a personal banker with a large nationally known bank. I aced the phone interview and thought I did well at the formal interview. HR pestered me about getting certain documents into them by a certain time.I thought for sure they were trying to get the information so that an offer could be made.Well, even before they finished my employment/background check, I got this in an email

    Dear XXXX:

Thank you for the interest you have shown in Bank Of XXXX and for providing us the opportunity to learn about your background and career interests.

We consider many good candidates and the selection decisions are seldom easy. After careful review of your background and experience, we regret that we are unable to further consider you for the position.

Again, thank you for considering Bank of XXXX. We wish you every success in your job search.

    Sincerely,

    Nancie P.

I am confused and angry.I have a background in sales, retail and loan origination. I do not for the life of me understand why I didn't get this job.

That sucks. I'm really sorry. Would you feel comfortable calling them and asking?

That sucks. Here's to the next bank you interview with snapping you up for a better deal anyways!

I had a similar experience when job hunting in Winter 2006.
There was 1 job in particular that I seemed perfect for and where they could barely contain their excitement over my qualifications and letter of application and they were really engaged at the interview and then no tamale. It was very random but then a little over a month later, I was offered my current position for more money and in a more convenient location. After a year on the job, factoring in my raise, I am making almost $20K more per year than I would have been at the other places and am in a management program at the local university that would not have been accessible to me with the other job position since it was not a leadership team position.

Consider that my long winded version of saying, something better is coming soon!
